Currently Loving #8

Hello everyone!

I hadn't planned to do another 'currently loving' blog post yet, as my last one was only a few weeks ago, but I have so many products to share with you. Continue reading if you want to find out my favourite products from the past few weeks!

Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Body Butter (£5.00):
The weather in the UK has been really nice recently, and I obviously got sun burnt! I have been using the Hawaiian Tropic after sun and it has worked wonders. The body butter is really moisturising and I have been constantly applying this, I have actually finished a whole tub of it and I am now onto a second tub. I also have the matching sun cream to this which I am going to be taking on holiday with me.

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Girl Panic (£6.00):
Some of my favourite drugstore eye shadow palettes are from Makeup Revolution. I have been using this palette quite a lot recently as it has a great shade range. The bottom row of the palette consists of 6 matte shades; the first three are perfect for all over the lid and the final three are great crease shades. The top two rows of the palette are all shimmery and metallic shades. I have been loving all of the shades in this palette as the pigmentation for £6 is absolutely amazing!

Row one bottom-top: Panic On The Street, By Invitation, Going On To Somewhere, I Am Beaten, Voices In My Head & City Trap

Row two bottom-top: Girlfriend, Chelsea Mayhem, Random, Going Nowhere, Get Closer & Demolition

Row three bottom-top: Going Under, Let It Happen, Naked Through, Hypnotic, Mesmerised & Clever Words

MUA Luxe Bronze & Sculpt Contour Duo (£4.00):
This little contour duo is an absolute gem! MUA is a really affordable drugstore brand and they have some really great products. I have been loving the contour shade in this duo as it is really pigmented and sculpts out the cheeks really well. The formula of the contour shade is really buttery and blends out so well on the skin. I am not the biggest fan of the highlight shade as I do like a blinding highlight; but if I was going for a more natural look (which is not often to be honest!) then the highlight would be perfect.

MUA Luxe Lip Velvet in Harmony (£3.00):
Another product I have been loving from the MUA Luxe range is the Lip Velvet in the shade Harmony. I love the formula of this lipstick as it is really light and creamy, and you can barely feel it on the lips. This doesn't dry my lips out whatsoever, despite having a matte finish, and the shade is really pretty too.

Freedom Pro Longwear White Foundation (£3.00):
When buying foundation online it can be quite difficult to choose the perfect shade, and most of the time I end up buying a shade too dark. I got this white foundation so that I can still use foundations that are too dark for me, and it also thickens up thinner foundations too. I know that The Body Shop do whitening drops but they are a lot more expensive than this one, so for £3 you really can't go wrong!

Makeup Revolution Oval Cheek Brush (£2.50):
This brush was on sale in Superdrug a few weeks ago and I knew I just had to buy it as I've been wanting to try some oval brushes for a while. I have been using this for contour as it is the perfect size, and it blends out product beautifully. I haven't had a problem with bristles falling out, as this can sometimes be a problem with more affordable makeup brushes. I have also washed the brush twice now and it hasn't been affected at all.

Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder (£5.00):
I saw a blog post comparing this powder to the Ben Nye Banana Powder and I knew that I had to pick one up from Superdrug. I have never tried the Ben Nye powder but it is a little more pricier than the Makeup Revolution powder. I have been setting my under eye makeup with this powder and I find that it cancels out darkness under my eyes and sets my concealer in place really well too. The powder is really fine and doesn't look heavy under the eyes.

Morphe 6 Piece Deluxe Contour Brush Set (£20.50) & M496 Duo Luxe Fan Brush (£3.00):
I recently tried out some Morphe brushes as I had been wanting to try them out for a while and Beauty Bay had a sale on, so I obviously couldn't miss that opportunity! I have been using these brushes everyday and I love them. The bristles are so soft and they are so easy to clean too. The mini fan brush is perfect for applying highlight under the brow bone.

I Heart Makeup Unicorn Heart Rainbow Highlighter (£4.99):
I can honestly say that this is the most pigmented and gorgeous highlighter I have EVER used in my life! I was completely blown away when I tried this highlighter for the first time. I like to mix all of the shades together and apply the highlighter with a fan brush, and it just creates a gorgeous silver holographic glow. I cannot believe that this is only £4.99 as it is way better than a lot of high end highlighters I have used. Do not be put off by the fact this is a rainbow highlighter, it's stunning and a must have product in every makeup bag!

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in Peach Diamond (£3.00):
The other highlighter I have been using, and loving, is Peach Diamond by MUA. It's hard to believe that this highlighter is £3. Just like the previous one I mentioned, for a drugstore highlight the pigmentation and longevity is incredible and it definitely won't break the bank either.

Makeup Revolution Matte Lip Kit in Noble (£6.00):
Makeup Revolution have recently launched a range of matte lip kits, and have been described as dupes for the Kylie lip kits on a number of blogs. I picked up the shade Noble and I love it; it is my perfect everyday shade. Whilst this isn't as long lasting as the Kylie lip kits, it is still considerably good considering it is a lot cheaper. As for the application of the lip liner and liquid lipstick; both glide on the lips easily and are very pigmented.

ELF Volumizing & Defining Mascara in Jet Black (£3.00):
Superdrug very recently began selling ELF makeup, which is an American drugstore makeup brand. Some of the products are really affordable, like this mascara, and some are a little more on the expensive side for drugstore makeup. This mascara looks great on my lashes and doesn't look clumpy like other mascaras do. Just one coat of this mascara lengthens my lashes so much, and I think that that's down to the curved shape of the wand.

That is all of the products I have been loving since my last 'currently loving' post! Let me know in the comments what you have been loving:)

The Liebster Award

Hello everyone!

I was nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Sophie from xoSophhh. For those that don't already know, the Liebster Award is a brilliant way to discover new blogs and get to know bloggers.

The rules:

  1. Answer the questions you were asked by your nominator.
  2. Tag 11 other bloggers.
  3. Create 11 new questions for them to answer.
1. What's one food you could eat for every meal and never get bored of?
I would probably have to say tuna pasta. Pasta and tuna are two of my favourite foods to begin with, so I don't think I would ever get bored of it.

2. Who's your top 3 favourite bloggers and why?
My first favourite blogger is Charlotte (Charlotte's Picks) who I will be nominating for this award. She posts lots of great content and she is also a lovely girl who I have became very close two on my blogging journey. My second favourite blogger is Fleur DeForce as she has great blog posts where she gives really honest reviews. Finally, my third favourite blogger is VelvetBlush. I love her blog as her photography is great!

3. What's your favourite thing about yourself and your blog?
I am very creative and that is the whole reason why I started my blog. I love writing and taking photos and then putting them together to create a blog post.

4. Would you rather be without your eyebrows or eyeliner?
I would 100% rather live without eyeliner! I don't really wear eyeliner that often anyway because I can never seem to get both sides even. Brows, on the other hand, I could not leave the house without doing my eyes because I think that they just complete my makeup look.

5. What was/is your favourite subject at school?
I loved GCSE science (biology, chemistry and physics) and I have always been really intrigued by science in general, which is why I want to pursue a career in midwifery:)

6. Do you have any pets?
I actually don't have any pets but my grandparents have two gorgeous cats, Bubbles and Toby, who have featured on my blog before. I do love them like they're my own though!
Bubbles

Toby

7. What's your favourite chocolate bar?
My favourite chocolate bar is a dairy free chocolate bar from Marks & Spencer's, it's really yummy.

8. Fashion or beauty?
This question is hard because although I don't really write all that much on fashion on my blog, I am very much into my fashion. I would say it's a good 50/50 mix.

9. What do you use to take your blog photos?
I use a camera that I have had for ages and it really is nothing special. I should probably upgrade my camera soon but for now it's what I use to take my photos.

10. What's your favourite flower?
I have never really thought about my favourite flower because I think that all flowers are pretty. Daisies and roses are really nice flowers though.

11. What's your top favourite beauty item/item of clothing that you can't live without?
My favourite beauty product is the GOSH Lip Oils because I get really dry lips and this is the only lip product that has actually improved the condition of my lips. Clothing wise, I couldn't live without my River Island jeans as they are so comfortable.

My 11 questions are:
  1. What are your top 3 Netflix programmes at the minute?
  2. Would you rather go a year without wearing lipstick or eye shadow?
  3. If you could live anywhere on earth, where would it be and why?
  4. What's your Holy Grail foundation which you will continually purchase?
  5. What is one makeup brand you want to try but have never got round to trying?
  6. How long, on average, do you spend writing a blog post?
  7. What has been your favourite moment of 2017 so far?
  8. Have you ever met a celebrity?
  9. Can you remember the first makeup item you ever bought?
  10. Three favourite high end brands?
  11. Three favourite drugstore brands?
I am now going to nominate 11 blogs;

Thanks again for the nomination Sophie, this was such a fun blog post to write! Make sure to link me to your Liebster Award posts in the comments too!

Until next time,

What's In My Suitcase?!

Hello everyone!

I have packed my suitcase for my holiday so I thought that it would be a good idea to share with you some tips for packing a suitcase and some essential items which are in my suitcase. If you want to see more holiday related posts then I have also done a 'What's in my holiday makeup bag' post as well as a 'What's in my carry on'.

I am not going to be sharing everything in my suitcase, as a lot of the things are very self explanatory, but I will be sharing my essentials. Enjoy!

My suitcase is the Tripp Magenta Medium Suitcase. I have used this suitcase a few times now and it's great because it has four wheels so it's a lot easier to push than your typical two wheel suitcase.

Obviously I have my clothes in my suitcase. I am thinking of doing a holiday look book when I come back from my holiday, so do let me know if that's something you would like to see. When packing my clothes I like to roll them rather than fold them as that reduces creasing and saves a lot of space too.
My suitcase open with everything in it

This side of my suitcase has my clothes, a pair of shoes and my hair curler

This section of my suitcase has my two pairs of flip flops (linked at the end!)

Behind the section with my flip flops I have my makeup bag and wash bag with all of my toiletries in it

I am going to be taking two pairs of flip flops in my suitcase, a pair of sandals and a pair of little heels which I can wear on a night time. I wanted to take a pair of dressy shoes and the ones I chose from River Island go with any outfit and I can tell I am going to get a lot of use from them. I am going to be wearing a pair of trainers to travel in as I find it best to wear my heaviest pair of shoes and that way I can save some of my luggage allowance for other things (makeup!).

I have already done a blog post on what's inside my main makeup bag as I thought that it would make an interesting post, so I am not going to be going through that in this post. If you would like to see what's inside my makeup bag then click here.

I also have my toiletries in the ice cream wash bag which you can see at the beginning of this post. I would suggest putting a few pieces of tape on the lids of your toiletries to prevent them from leaking and ruining your clothes. Two essential skincare products are sun cream and after sun. I love the Hawaiian Tropic sun cream and after sun, so those are what I'm taking with me.

I hope that you enjoyed this blog post! My holiday is getting closer and closer now, and I am very excited. What are your suitcase essentials?

Holiday Reading Picks

Hello everyone!

There's nothing better than lounging around the pool reading; am I right?! I am going on holiday soon and I always take a good book (or three) with me to read.

In today's blog post I am going to be sharing with you my favourite books to take on holiday with me. The first three books are ones which I am taking on my holiday, and the last two are books which I have read before and highly recommend. I will also be including the blurbs of all of the books so that you can get an idea of what each book is about:)

History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera:
My first book pick is called History Is All You Left me and it is from the Zoella & Friends 2017 Book Club. I have two books in this post which are from the 2017 book club as well as one from the 2016 book club.
'Griffin has lost his first love in a drowning accident. Theo was his best friend, his ex-boyfriend and the one he believed he would end up with. Now, reeling from grief and worsening OCD, Griffin turns to an unexpected person for help. Theo's new boyfriend. But as their relationship becomes increasingly complicated, dangerous truths begin to surface. Griffin must make a choice: confront the past, or miss out on his future.'

The Start Of Me And You by Emery Lord:
The second book from the 2017 book club is The Start Of Me And You. I am very excited to read this book as it sounds very enticing;
'It's been a year since Paige's first boyfriend died in a swimming accident and it's time she rejoined the real world. So she makes a plan: 1. Date a boy (long-standing crush Ryan Chase seems like the perfect choice) 2. Attend parties (with best friends by your side: doable) 3. Join a club (simple enough, right?) 4. Travel (might as well dream big) 5. Swim (terrifying. Impossible)'

The One We Fell In Love With by Paige Toon:
This book by Paige Toon is from Zoella's 2016 book club, but I can't wait to read it nonetheless.
'PHOEBE is caught between a rock and a hard place. Settle down and get married, or return to the French Alps to pursue her passion? ELIZA is in love with someone who is no longer hers. In fact, he probably never was... And her dream of becoming a successful musician seems to be vanishing before her eyes. ROSE is out of a job and out of a boyfriend. To make matters worse, she's been forced to move back in with her mother... But these very different girls have one thing in common. ANGUS. The one they fell in love with...'

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes:
This book is beautifully written and has a heartbreaking story to it. I actually saw the movie before I read this book, as the movie is what prompted me to buy it, and I actually prefer the book as it goes into a lot more detail than the film did.
'She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane. Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now, and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that. What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.'

The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins:
Probably my favourite book (and film!) to date is The Girl On The Train. I absolutely love this book as I love a good thriller. I know that you have probably all read the book by now, or at least seen the film, but I wanted to include it anyway.
'Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Their life- as she sees it- is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking, and in one moment everything changes. Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she's only watched from afar. Now they'll see: she's much more than the girl on the train...'

I hope that you like my holiday reading picks! Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them?

Kylie Lip Kit VS Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kit

Hello everyone!

As you all know I am a big fan of the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits and have been for a long time now. When I came across a matte lip kit from Makeup Revolution I instantly knew that I had to buy one and compare them in a blog post.

Price:
As far as price goes, the Makeup Revolution lip kit is a lot cheaper than the Kylie lip kits. The Makeup Revolution kit comes in at £6.00 whereas the Kylie lip kits are $29.00 (£22.75). However when you add on the shipping costs and custom costs from Kylie Cosmetics one lip kit can come in at over £40, so just keep that in mind when ordering from the website!

Packaging:
As you can see from the images, the boxes for the Kylie lip kits and Makeup Revolution lip kits aren't identical but they have the same concept. The Makeup Revolution box is slightly smaller and is a matte black, whereas the Kylie Cosmetics box is a shiny white.

Shade:
The shade I purchased from Makeup Revolution is called Noble and it is a really nice warm toned brown with a red undertone to it. This isn't the shade I normally go for as I do like more cool toned brown shades, but I was pleasantly surprised when I applied it to my lips.

I couldn't find an exact dupe for Noble from Kylie Cosmetics but the closest shade I own is Ginger. I got Ginger in miniature form in one of the Holiday gift sets, but it is now available to buy in full size.
Ginger is slightly darker than Noble but if you're looking for a similar shade to Ginger for a cheaper price then Noble is definitely the way to go!

Formula:
Both liquid lipsticks are very runny and dry down to matte after a few seconds of being applied on the lips, and they are both extremely pigmented which means you only need to apply one layer of product to get an opaque finish. The Makeup Revolution lip liner is surprisingly very creamy and pigmented. I don't have the Ginger lip liner but I have a number of other Kylie lip liners and they apply a little more smoothly than the Makeup Revolution lip liner did, but for the price you can't really complain.

Longevity:
I feel like you get what you pay for when it comes to makeup. The Kylie liquid lip and lip liner combo last all day on my lips without going patchy or wearing off, but I found that the Makeup Revolution liquid lip and lip liner didn't last amazingly well. However, I really wouldn't mind re applying once or twice throughout the day if it means I get to spend a LOT less money!

Overall rating:
Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kit in Noble: 4/5
Kylie Cosmetics Liquid Lip in Ginger: 5/5

I hope that you enjoyed this comparison post! Will you be buying a Makeup Revolution Lip Kit?

Until next time,
Emily xo
