Trying NYX Cosmetics For The First Time

Hello everyone!

In my 'brands I want to try in 2016' post (link here) I said that I wanted to try out a few different brands. I am going to make it my mission to try out as many new brands as possible this year and I am going to blog about every new brand that I try.

The first brand that I have recently tried for the first time is NYX. I had heard so many great things about their products and I picked some up from the Boots website a few weeks ago.

The first product I bought was the Tinted Brow Mascara (£5.50) and I use this every day now. I don't really need to fill in my brows with a pencil or wax, I just like to use a brow mascara to set them into place. This is definitely the best one I have tried so far and I will be repurchasing this when I run out. It doesn't leave the brows feeling crispy like some other brow mascaras do, and it just lightly tints them.

I also picked up three of the Butter Glosses (£5.00 each) in the shades Creme Brulee, Angel Food Cake and Red Velvet. All three of these shades are really wearable; a nude, pink and vampy red. I do find that these are a little sticky for my liking but I will still get some use out of them as the shades are gorgeous!

The other lip products I picked up from NYX are the Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks (£6.50 each). These are matte, which is my favourite lipstick finish, and I absolutely love them! All of the shades I bought are quite nude; Beauty Mark, Ruffle Trim and Teddy. I will definitely get a lot of use from these as they are perfect for everyday wear.

That is everything that I have tried from NYX so far. Let me know what you have tried from NYX:)

Huge Drugstore Haul

Hello everyone!

Today I am going to do a collective Boots haul. All of the products I mention in this post were bought over a few months, and I decided not to share the products with you until I had tried them out and then I can give mini reviews on everything. You may see a trend throughout this post... I picked up a lot of matte lip products!

L'Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist (£7.99)
I bought two bottles of this setting spray because I had heard so many great things about it. I am usually really skeptical about setting sprays but I was totally wrong! I really notice that my makeup lasts a lot longer when I spray a little bit of this when I am finished. You need to give this a good shake before use as it does seem to separate in the bottle, and don't hold it too close to your face or it leaves little white dots of powder:)

L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt Contour Palette (£9.99)
This little contour palette is fairly new and is something that I was very excited to try. I have wanted to try a few cream contour products for a while and this is cream to powder, so exactly what I wanted! This is very buildable, so you can create either a bold or subtle contour. It is not orange toned like some contour products can be, and lasts all day on my skin.

L'Oreal Infallible 24H Foundation (£9.99)
The shade that I picked in this foundation is the lightest, and it is a little too pale for my skin at the moment. I have tried this out for the purpose of this post but I will be keeping it until I am really pale in the Winter. This is a medium coverage foundation and actually looks like skin, which is always nice! Like I said earlier, I will get a lot of use from this in the Winter but from what I've tried I think that I am going to like this foundation. I always tend to stick to drugstore foundations anyway because there are some great ones out there for decent prices! I also wanted to add that I love the smell of this foundation, is that strange?!

Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit (£6.49)
I bought this palette a few weeks ago, it has been out for a little while now, and I have used it every day when I haven't used the L'Oreal palette. You get three different shades in this kit; a highlight, bronzer and contour shade. The highlight is completely matte and I think that it would be good for setting under eye concealer, rather than highlighting. The bronzer is warm toned, again with no shimmer. Finally, the contour shade is cool toned which means it doesn't look orange on the skin, and has no shimmer in it either.

*NEW* Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Matte Lip Colour in Berry Much (£3.50)
I have tried the Soap & Glory lip glosses before and I loved them, so I wanted to try another one of their lip products. This one is new to the drugstore, and it's matte (what a surprise!). The shape of the bullet means that the lip stick is really easy to apply precisely. The shade Berry Much is gorgeous and I am so glad that I chose this one as I will get a lot of use from it. It applies smoothly and doesn't draw attention to dry patches on the lips, which most matte lipsticks do. It lasts for a good 3 to 4 hours on the lips and dries matte straight away. The only disappointing thing is that you get a tiny amount of product, but for £3.50 you can't really go wrong!

Rimmel Lipstick Lock (£4.99)
I was browsing the Boots website and I saw this product from Rimmel. I wasn't really expecting anything great but I thought it would be interesting to try it anyway. When I first got this I opened it and smelt it...VERY BAD DECISION! It honestly smells like vinegar and I was a little bit scared to put it on my lips to be honest. I decided to test this out with one of my favourite lipsticks; MAC Flat Out Fabulous. When I first applied the lipstick lock onto my lips it stung like mad! I persevered and let it dry, which only took about 15 seconds. I did notice that this made my lipstick last really well throughout my lunch and even my dinner. I was quite impressed, but if you get chapped lips like me then beware because it does sting! I think that I wouldn't repurchase this product again, despite it working as it claims, because I really can't get past how bad this smells:(

*NEW* Rimmel Volume Colourist Mascara (£7.99)
My favourite drugstore mascara brand is definitely Rimmel. I love the Wonder'Full mascara and the Scandal Eyes. I was very excited to try the new Rimmel mascara and I am pleased to say that it did not let me down! It does not clump the lashes, which is always a bonus, and adds a lot of length to the lashes. It dried really quickly which meant that it didn't transfer onto my eyelids (which happens with almost every mascara I own!). I never actually thought I could find a mascara better than the Rimmel Wonder'Full or Scandal Eyes, but this totally blew me away and is my new favourite mascara.

*NEW* Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour in Devotion, Flirtation and Addiction (£8.99 each)
As you all probably know, I love matte lipsticks. I picked up three matte lip colours from NYX, one from Soap & Glory and three from Revlon which I am going to talk about now! I believe that these are fairly new to the UK. I must say, I am a fan of the packaging as it is really slim and therefore is easy to slip these in your handbag. I find that with all three of these shades you only really need to apply one thin layer to the lips or they don't dry fully matte, which isn't too much of a problem. They are very pigmented and I love the shades that I picked; a pink, coral and purple. They have a velvet texture and sit on the lips nicely, without drying them.

NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Ruffle Trim, Beauty Mark and Teddy (£6.50 each)
I also picked up three liquid lipsticks from NYX, all of which are of course matte! I could immediately tell that I would get a lot of use from these as all of the shades in the range are nude, and that is basically all I wear on an ordinary day. I have been getting the most wear from Ruffle Trim as it is a dark peach pink nude, which is what I tend to look for in a nude lipstick. The other two shades, Teddy and Beauty Mark, are quite similar. Beauty Mark is a chocolate brown shade and Teddy is also a brown with some slight purple undertones. I would definitely love to try some more of these lip products as I love the shades I have tried so far:)

Biore Self Heating One Minute Face Mask (£7.99)
I decided to buy a few new skincare bits, as I really want to change up the products I use and see if there are any better ones out there. I decided to pick up some Biore products as I have heard a lot of great things about their brand in general. You only need to leave these masks on for one minute, so that's a bonus if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. I love when you apply this onto your face it warms up almost instantly, it is so relaxing! You only get four sachets in this box so if you do a mask once a week, like me, then it will last you for a month. It works out as roughly £2 per mask and I don't think that is too bad!

Biore Charcoal Pore Minimiser (£5.99)
The second thing I got from Biore is the Charcoal Pore Minimiser. I must say, I love the smell of all the Biore products as they're not too heavily scented but still smell really good. This product absorbs excess oil really well and the little micro beads cleanse the skin leaving pores visibly smaller, so it really does work! This is not something to use everyday as it could irritate the skin, so I have been using it twice a week.

Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips (£7.99)
In the box you get 6 pore strips, so like the face masks I have been using one strip each week and then the box will last just over one month. I tried some really cheap pore strips from Boots and they didn't really do anything, so I was really excited to see if these ones worked. I love peeling the strips off my nose after ten minutes, and I was actually shocked to see how much dirt was clogging my pores! Along with using the Charcoal Pore Minimiser, I have definitely noticed that my pores appear smaller in size and feel cleaner too.

Biore Charcoal Cleanser (£4.99)
This is one of my favourite drugstore cleansers that I own. It is really gentle on the skin and lathers really well. It has the distinct Biore scent and after using this cleanser for just over a week I already noticed that my skin looked a lot healthier.

Victoria's Secret Amber Romance Body Spray (£15.00)
This isn't technically a drugstore purchase but I wanted to include it anyway. I was so happy when I found this in Tesco and the scent that I chose smells absolutely gorgeous. On the Tesco website it is actually slightly cheaper than in store, so I will definitely be buying a few more scents from their website soon!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments what your most recent purchase was:)

Until next time,

The Best Contour Products | Drugstore & High End

Hello everyone!

If there is one makeup 'skill' in particular that I am obsessed with, it HAS to be contouring! I love trying out new contour products and today I am going to be sharing with you my favourite ones; from high street to high end.

Seventeen Define & Conquer contour kit (£5.99)
First of all, the packaging of this duo looks exactly like the NARS packaging (which I love!). I wasn't expecting great things when I first bought this duo, but I was interested to try it anyway. I am so glad that I did try it because I absolutely love it and use it almost every day. Both shades in this duo are completely matte and the contour shade adds a very natural looking shadow to the cheeks. Considering I usually go for cool toned contour shades, I really like this contour shade and I will continue to use it everyday.

Barry M Chisel Cheeks contour kit (£6.49)
Another drugstore favourite and this time it is from Barry M. I heard so many great things about this Barry M kit, and everyone was absolutely right about it! You actually get three different powders in this kit; a highlighter, bronzer and contour shade. I do prefer cool toned contour shades over warm toned ones, and I really like how there are two different options in this trio. The bronzer adds a nice warmth to the face whilst the contour shade defines the cheek bones nicely. The highlighter is a little too powdery for my liking, but it is generally a decent kit whether you are just starting out in makeup or not.

Sleek Face Form in Light (£9.99)
Again, another drug store contour kit that I am a fan of is the Sleek Face Form. I really like that this kit has a contour shade, highlighter and blusher. This is great for travelling as the packaging is really sleek and sturdy, and it has everything in it that you need for your cheeks. I absolutely love the blush, which is a gorgeous shimmery rose gold shade, and think that it adds a gorgeous glow to my cheeks.

L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt Contouring Palette (£9.99)
The L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt palette is fairly new in the drugstore and I am obsessed with it, it is definitely my favourite contour product from the drugstore. Both of the products are a cream formula, which I had never actually tried until now. Both the highlight and contour shades  are very creamy and blend into the skin really easily. I have been using this almost everyday for the past few weeks because it gives the perfect defined contour. Out of all the products I have mentioned in this post, I would say go and pick this up because you will definitely love it!

Smashbox Shape Matters palette (£60.00)
The final product in my contour favourites is a high end palette, of course the Smashbox Shape Matters palette. I got this for Christmas and I love that it is a cool toned shade, as I definitely prefer these over warm toned shades. This is definitely my favourite high end contour product but it is a little bit inconvenient as it is in a giant palette and can't be taken on the go easily. Aside from that, I would definitely recommend this if you are into cool toned contour shades.

Let me know in the comments what your favourite contour products are!

I Heart Makeup Lip Geek Lipsticks | Review & Swatches

Hello everyone!

Last year I bought 11 of the I Heart Makeup Lip Geek lipsticks, but I never actually got round to swatching them and reviewing them in a blog post. I have worn these lipsticks loads, some more than others, and I thought that I would review them today:)

All of the lipsticks I own have a really creamy texture. Because of the creamy texture they don't last REALLY long on the lips, generally around 3 hours. I did find that some of the lighter shades clung to dry patches on my lips. Also, the shade Marshmallow Kiss was a little too pale for my complexion. Overall, I do like these lipsticks and I would buy more of them but a few of the shades are a little bit hit and miss.

All the shades that I own:

  • Dream About Success
  • Caught Myself Smiling
    • Ken Will Want Me
    • Colour Overdose
    • Barbie Is Jealous
    • Marshmallow Kiss
    • Happy Girl
    • Totally Not Boring
    • Candy Rock
    • Live For Today
    • Just Have Fun
L-R: Dream About Success, Caught Myself Smiling, Ken Will Want Me and Colour Overdose
L-R: Barbie Is Jealous, Marshmallow Kiss, Happy Girl and Totally Not Boring
L-R: Candy Rock, Live For Today and Just Have Fun

I actually took the time to swatch all of the lipsticks on my lips. I think I used a full tub of lip balm afterwards because they were so sore!

I hope that you enjoyed this post. Which shade is your favourite? Mine is definitely Totally Not Boring!

    Until next time,

    Everyday Spring Makeup Look

    Hello everyone!

We are now getting into Spring (it's finally getting warmer, woo!) and I thought that today I would share with you my go to Spring makeup look. Spring is my favourite season because you can start adding colour back into your wardrobe and makeup looks. I love wearing a coral lip in Spring because it adds a nice pop of colour to the lips, perfect for this time of year!

    Rimmel Lasting Finish primer (£6.99)
I always like to prime my face before I do my makeup. I have been loving the Lasting Finish primer for a long time now. I love Rimmel primers because they act like glue; they make your makeup last a lot longer than they usually would.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation (£7.99)
The foundation that I LOVE is from the same range as the primer mentioned above, and of course it is from Rimmel! I love this foundation because it is full coverage, and it sets semi matte too. Recently I haven't been setting this foundation with a powder because I love the glow that it gives. It also lasts really well so it doesn't really need to be set with a powder anyway.

    MAC blush in Peachykeen (£18.50)
I haven't used this blush in absolutely ages, and to be completely honest I actually forgot that I had it! It is a gorgeous peachy pink shade with lots of gold glitter flecks in it. I love the gold glitter in this blush, but it may not be for everyone as some people don't like glittery blushers.

    Maybelline Master Sculpt (£6.99)
I only used the contour shade from this duo as I really wanted to use the Makeup Revolution palette that I will talk about next. I love this contour shade because it isn't too orange and defines the cheekbones subtly but noticeably.

    Makeup Revolution highlighter palette (£8.00)
This palette is absolutely gorgeous! I used the middle shade in the palette, which is lovely peach shade. You only need to apply a small amount of this highlighter because it is really pigmented. I love how this highlighter reflects the light too.

MUA Spring Break eyeshadow palette (£4.00)
First of all this palette was £4.00, what an absolute bargain! This palette was specially designed for Spring, and it has some absolutely stunning shades in it. I love that this has shade names on the back too. The look I created was with Aurora on the inner corner, Cherub on the lid and Refine in the crease.

Soap & Glory Supercat eyeliner (£5.00)
I never used to wear eye liner because I wear glasses so I thought that it was a bit pointless, but I have recently been loving a winged liner look. I have been practicing so much that I can actually do a decent eyeliner look! I love this Soap & Glory eye liner because the tip is really fine and precise.

    Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara (£7.99)
At first, I wasn't actually a fan of this mascara. I had heard so many good reviews so I went back and tried it again. I saw on a YouTube video that leaving it out overnight with the lid off slightly dries it out. My problem was that the formula was too wet, so this solved the problem! I now use this mascara so much and I am so glad that I went back and tried it again.

GOSH Velvet Touch lipstick in 004 Coral (£6.99)
I am a huge fan of the GOSH matte lipsticks, I wear the shade Antique almost everyday. However, I love this coral shade (which is actually called Coral!) as it is the perfect Spring lip shade.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know in the comments if you did. I love reading and responding to comments:)
