Smashbox #SHAPEMATTERS Palette Review

Hello everyone!

For Christmas I had a few bits of makeup on my list, the first makeup item that I want to review from my pile of Christmas gifts is the Smashbox #SHAPEMATTERS palette. This palette includes 9 eye shadows, 3 contour powders, 1 highlighter, 2 brow powders, 1 brow wax and 1 double- ended shadow/brow brush. Along with all the makeup you also get 'Get The Look' cards which give you makeup look ideas. I think these are a great idea if you need some makeup inspiration or are just starting out in makeup and need some tips on using the products.

The Brush
Normally I don't use the brushes in palettes, as they are usually rubbish quality. The brush in this palette is surprisingly really good and I have already got a lot of use from this. Both ends of this brush is really soft. I do use other shadow brushes alongside this as I do like to use a different brush for each shadow.

Brow Wax/Powders
I was a little bit skeptical as to whether the brow products would be a suitable shade for my brows, but the shades are just right. The Brow Tech Brow Wax is a clear wax which sets the powder in place. Usually with brow waxes they can leave your brows feeling crispy, but this one does not. I can use both of the brow powders, which is great!

Contour/Highlight Shades
I love a good contour and this is one of the reasons why I wanted this palette! The first contour shade is something that I have been using everyday since I got the palette as it cool toned and can be built up for a more intense contour. The second shade is a bronzer, but it is slightly too orange for my liking. You could use this as an eyeshadow, like I am, because of the orange undertones. The two highlighters in this palette include a cream shade and a gorgeous intense champagne shimmer shade. I have been getting a lot of use from the champagne shade especially as I love a bit of shimmer!

Eye Shadows
I used the shadows on Christmas Day and loved the look that I created. I have been using this palette every other day as I have also been testing out my new MAC palette. The nine shadows are all very pigmented, blendable and last really well. They are all shadows that I can get a lot of use from as there are matte, shimmer and satin shades.

I am definitely going to be trying out some more Smashbox products as I absolutely love this palette. If you have any Smashbox recommendations then please let me know:)

What I Got For Christmas 2015!

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe that Christmas is over. The build up to Christmas seems to last for forever, and it passes in a blink of an eye. I got some lovely presents and today I am going to be sharing with you exactly what I got. You may have seen some pictures of my presents on Instagram, but I am going to be going into a little more detail in today's post.

LUSH WOW! Gift Set
The first thing that I got for Christmas was the LUSH WOW! set. This includes 36 of the limited edition Christmas products. My room smells incredible from all of the LUSH products I have at the moment, I will also be doing a LUSH collection soon.

Smashbox #SHAPEMATTERS Palette
I have wanted this Smashbox palette for a long time so when I seen it under my tree I was overjoyed! This palette is absolutely gorgeous, and I have been using it at every chance I have got. The contour shade is definitely my favourite contour product as it is not orange and blends out really well. I will be doing a full blog post on this very soon so keep an eye out for that.

MAC Warm Neutral Eyeshadow Palette
The other palette that I got is the MAC Warm Neutral palette. This contains 15 warm shadows, and it is absolutely stunning. I love MAC shadows and so this was the perfect addition to my collection. There will also be a blog post on this up soon.

Username:Evie by Joe Sugg
I got a few different books, the first of which is Username:Evie. I have heard lots of good feedback on this book and I am very excited to read it.

The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire
Again, this is another YouTube book. I have heard so many people talking about this book and I wanted to read it for myself, I am only 10 pages in and I already love it! It feels like the YouTubers are taking over the shops with books, movies and beauty ranges.

Jack Wills Makeup Brush Set
I love the Real Techniques makeup brushes but I am really excited to see how these brushes match up. The brushes are super soft and they come with a travel case which I love. I am going to try these brushes out soon and I will let you know what I think:)

Blu Rays (and lots of them!)
I always put plenty of Blu Rays on my Christmas list, I love watching films. This year I got 6 blu rays and one DVD. The DVD I got is Joe & Caspar Hit The Road, unfortunately you couldn't buy this on DVD but that is fine and I cannot wait to watch it.

The Blu Rays I got are:
  • Ted 1 and 2
  • Pixels
  • Paper Towns
  • Pitch Perfect 2
  • Tomorrowland A World Beyond

SacconeJolys and One Direction Calendars
I got two calendars; the SacconeJolys (YouTubers) and One Direction. I have no idea where I am going to hang these calendars but I will find somewhere for them.

One Direction Perfume Sets
I got two One Direction perfume sets. The first one has three travel sized perfumes and a perfume holder. I love all of the One Direction perfumes and I had actually just ran out of perfume. I will be putting these ones in my handbag, and then I got another perfume set which will take its place nicely on my dressing table.

I got the Between Us set which includes a perfume and body lotion. This has to be my favourite One Direction fragrance and I will get good use from this.

I hope that you enjoyed this post. I couldn't go through everything that I got but I will be doing a lot of reviews on the products that I got. It is also my birthday very soon so I will be doing a post on what I got, and expect lots of hauls as I did get a lot of money for Christmas too:)

Until next time,

Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone!

I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas, I know that I did:) I am going to be doing a 'What I Got For Christmas' post very soon, but until then I thought that I would show you some pictures from my day. There might even be a few pictures of my presents in there too!

I decided to use my new Smashbox palette for some of my makeup. For my base I used the No7 Beautifully Matte foundation and then Benefit Boi-ing concealer. I used the Sleek Rose Gold blush on my cheeks and then I used the contour and highlight shades from my palette. For eyes, I applied the Champagne shadow from the palette, in the crease I used Sumatra and on the outer corner I used Blackout. I then used my usual Benefit They're Real mascara. I finished off the look by applying the No7 Moisture Drench lipstick in Glam, which is a gorgeous red shade.
I forgot to take close up pictures of my eye makeup, sorry!

The table was set on Christmas Eve so that there was less to do, we had a gold and cream theme going on this year.

We also put the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve. I have posted quite a few pictures on Instagram of my presents so if you would like to have a sneak peek at my presents then the link is at the end of this post.

Throughout the festive period I have had an obsession with gingerbread men. The jumper I wore today had glittery gingerbread on, my pants had gingerbread men on and so did my socks! Very festive:)

Tonight I am planning on watching some good Christmas TV and some of the Blu Rays that I got. I might also have a read because I got a few books too.

I hope that you all enjoy the rest of your evening. Let me know in the comments what you got for Christmas, I would love to know!

Until next time,

Christmas Eve!

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe that it is Christmas in less than 6 hours. This year seems to have flown by! It has been a great year. I have my 2015 favourites coming very soon, and that post is packed full with amazing beauty products that I discovered this year.

I can never sleep on Christmas Eve, I get really excited every year! My plan for the rest of the evening is to stay snuggled up in bed and have a Christmas movie marathon. My favourite type of films are Christmas films. I have watched Mr Popper's Penguins, The Grinch and Arthur Christmas so far tonight.

Earlier this evening I treat myself to a LUSH bath. I used the Yuzu & Coco Bubbleroon and the Dashing Santa Bath Bomb. I then used the Snow Fairy shower gel as it smells absolutely incredible! I am getting the LUSH WOW! gift set tomorrow, so I will have plenty of LUSH products to see me through the next few months too.

Every Christmas I get new bedding, this year I chose some pug bedding from Asda. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it on their website but I'm sure you will still be able to buy it in store. I will insert a picture so you know what to look for in store.

I also want to share with you the three cushions I have on the end of my bed, two of which are from Asda.
Don't Forget To Smile cushion (Asda)
Enjoy The Adventure cushion (Asda)
Butterfly cushion (Ponden Home)

I was hoping for a white Christmas this year, and the other week I thought that there would be a chance we would get one. A few Saturdays ago (I believe it was the 12th) it snowed for a good few hours. I thought we would be getting a white Christmas but the next day when I woke up the snow was gone. I will insert a few pictures of the snow:)

I have actually been planning and writing some blog posts for the new year, so please do let me know if there is anything you would like to see:)

I feel super cosy tonight too, I have all my fairy lights on. I recently bought a light up letter 'E' and I originally had it on my dressing table but I have moved it next to my TV. I will insert a picture:)

If I have time I will be posting tomorrow night so that I can share some of my photos from Christmas Day, but if I don't get a chance to then my next post will be What I Got For Christmas as I know that everyone loves those posts.

Until next time,

Christmas Beauty Baubles!

Hello everyone!

I have done posts on this years beauty advent calendars, crackers and Christmas collections; so now I am going to talk to you about the beauty baubles on offer this year. These would be perfect to hang on your tree or as little stocking fillers. I love the idea of beauty baubles as they are generally inexpensive and perfect for trying out new products.

Ghost Eclipse 10ml Christmas Bauble Gift Set (£5.00)
I heard about this Ghost perfume bauble from another blogger, and I HAD to include it in this post. I am a fan of the Ghost fragrances and this would be the perfect gift for someone who is looking to try out a new perfume. You can find this on the Superdrug website (here!) and I think it is well worth having a look at.

Burt's Bees Classic Beeswax Hand and Lip Tree Decoration (£5.94)
Burt's Bees are a really great brand for lip balms and hand creams. This bauble is great and is something that I would definitely love to find on my Christmas tree. This is currently 15% off on the John Lewis website (here!).

Too Faced Deluxe Better Than Sex Mascara Ornament (£9.00)
The Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced is a classic, and is something that every makeup lover must try! I always like to try a product before I buy it, especially when it is quite pricey, so this is perfect for anyone that wants to try the mascara but doesn't know if they will like it or not. I think that anyone that tries it will love it though!

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Drum (£5.00)
Soap & Glory is another one of those brands where every product they do is amazing. I am a huge fan of S&G, and their body butters are one of my favourites. I believe that this body butter is award winning, and I can totally see why! It is super moisturising and smells incredible.

No7 Star Bauble (£6.00)
First of all, can I just say that I LOVE the glittery star box! In this bauble you get a nail polish in the shade Milan. I have tried some of the No7 nail varnishes before and I really love them. They don't chip and they come in lots of lovely shades. There is no picture of the nail varnish on the Boots website, but I'm guessing that it's a berry shade that's perfect for Winter.

Topshop Christmas Mini Lip Bullet Pyramid in Get Me Bodied (£5.00)
This bauble actually comes in two other shades, but I chose to talk about this one because it is a gorgeous berry shade that would be perfect for the Christmas season. Topshop makeup is really high quality and this lip bullet is a really generous size. This is perfect for any makeup lover, and is something else that I definitely would love to find on my tree:)
Until next time,

Red Lips For Every Budget

Hello everyone!

Christmas is coming up very soon, and if there is one makeup thing I would associate with Christmas it would definitely be a red lip! Today I am going to be sharing with you how to get the perfect red lip and my top red lipstick picks.

The Lip Prep...
Before I apply any lipstick there are a few steps that I go through, this is especially important if you are applying a bold lipstick as you don't want to colour to cling to any dry patches.

I recently picked up the KIKO Angel Kiss Set in Candy Canes (view my KIKO haul here!) and this is basically THE kit you need to create the perfect red lip. I did talk about it in my KIKO haul, but you get a lip scrub and a tinted red lip balm. They smell absolutely incredible and they work together to make your lips super smooth. The scrub is not harsh whatsoever, and the lip balm is really moisturising. Both of these products also have a slight tint to them.

After I use the two KIKO products on my lips I apply a thin layer of the MAC Prep + Prime Lip. This really does help your lipstick last longer, and is especially good for those drugstore lipsticks that don't last as long as others.

The Lipsticks...
I have three go to red lipsticks for the Winter time, and they are all quite different. I have a 'classic' true red, orange red and cherry red.

My favourite 'classic' red lipstick is the No7 Moisture Drench in Glam. This is something that I ALWAYS talk about around Christmas. The pigmentation is incredible, it does not dry your lips out like many other lipsticks do and it lasts really well. When I wear this lipstick I never have to top it up for a good 6 hours.

The 'orange red' lipstick that I tend to go for around Winter is called Colour Overdose from the I Heart Lipsticks 'Lipstick Geek' range. I haven't worn this one as much as the other two that I have mentioned in this post, but I think it is another staple red lipstick. This is quite similar to MAC's Morange, and is something very different from my usual Christmas lipsticks.

The final red lipstick that is a staple in my Winter makeup bag is from GOSH, and is one of their Velvet Touch lipsticks in Cherry. This lipstick is matte, my favourite lipstick finish, and is surprisingly not drying at all. This is not a classic red shade but I would class it as a cherry red, and is perfect for the Christmas season:)

What is your favourite Winter lipstick? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

KIKO Haul!

Hello everyone!

A KIKO store recently opened up near me and I saw this as the perfect opportunity to pick up a few things and try them out. I have heard a lot of good reviews on the brand and I ended up picking out four lipsticks, one eye shadow and a Christmas lip kit.

First of all, I want to give a 10/10 for presentation. The bag is Christmas themed and finished off with a bow. I picked up one thing from their Christmas range too so the packaging to that matches the bag. The 'regular' product packaging is just as good and reminds me of the MAC packaging.

Angel Kiss Set in Candy Canes (£11.90)
The only item I bought from their Christmas range is this lip set, which I fell in love with as soon as I seen it! In this set you get the Candy Cane Velvet Lips lip scrub and the Candy Cane Kiss Balm lip balm. These both smell absolutely incredible; just like bubblegum! The balm is sheer but does still have decent pigmentation. It is a beautiful red shade. The lip scrub is great on the lips and paired together they make your lips super soft.

I have used these two products a handful of times and my lips already feel great. This would be the perfect gift for Christmas, and is not too pricey either.

Infinity Eye Shadow in 244 Pearly Orchid Violet (£5.90)
The KIKO eye shadows and lipsticks were the two main things that I wanted to try from the brand, and I decided on this gorgeous burgundy shade. It has a hint of shimmer in it, and it's super creamy and easy to blend. I will definitely be trying out some more KIKO shadows as I love this one.

Smart Lipstick in 917 Mauve Pink (£3.90)
The first lipstick I picked up is just as the name suggests, a mauve pink! I really like that this doesn't have too much shimmer in it. It's the perfect Kylie Jenner lip shade, and it glides on so easily. This is my everyday lip shade and I can tell I will get a lot of use from this.

Smart Lipstick in 903 Candy Rose (£3.90)
This lipstick is a gorgeous deep rose shade and, just like the others, is super creamy and moisturising. I would say this is a shade that would be perfect for Spring, and is probably when I will get the most wear out of it.

Smart Lipstick in 914 Amaranth (£3.90)
This lipstick is very different from the others, and reminds me a lot of MAC Rebel- I'm pretty sure it's a dupe! It's a stunning berry shade and is perfect for the Christmas season. I will get a lot of use out of this lipstick more than any of the others, as it is my go to shade for Winter. When I have been wearing this I have noticed that the lipstick stains your lips meaning that when the lipstick wears off you are still left with a stain that looks a lot more natural. Staining your lips can either be a bonus or negative aspect, depending on the person, but I think it is a bonus!

Smart Lipstick in 919 Sugar Pink (£3.90)
This lipstick is the only one that I picked up that has a really strong pearl effect. It also reminds me a lot of MAC Plink!, so it could possible be another dupe:) It is a light baby pink and is great for those days when you want to wear lipstick but don't want to change the shade of your lips too much. It is not the most adventurous shade but I will get a lot of use from this too.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know if you have tried any KIKO makeup... and whether you liked the products or not!

Until next time,
Emily xo
